We slept like babies last night. Smooth seas and a full belly makes for a good
night. After breakfast we met up with
friends and jumped on a hop on hop off bus for a tour of Tallinn. Tallinn was under Russian rule until a few
years ago and the city shows it. The old
city is interesting, but the old neighborhoods are in disrepair. There is controversy about who owns
what. The people that think they own the
houses do not want to put money into repairs until they are sure that they own
the house. The renters do not want to
put money into a house that they do not own, so we have a catch 22. Hopefully it will be settled shortly as there
are a lot of historical homes in Tallinn.
The Castle and the churches look great. The old shopping area still has cobble stone
streets and the area is quite quaint. We
had lunch down there and then walked around for awhile before heading back to
the ship. We both picked up some
trinkets to bring back with us.
The flag of Estonia is three stripes; blue on top, black
in the middle and white on the bottom.
